Discovery & Diagnostics
The first step in any Sales and Marketing performance engagement is discovery and diagnosis to ensure we not only develop best practice in your business but also leverage what you already have. Once we have completed this, we will then be in a position to recommend a programme to develop the Sales and Marketing Engine that your business needs. This programme will almost certainly include the following:
- Putting in place the necessary processes
- Training, coaching and mentoring you to use those processes
- Using low and no cost marketing techniques to develop a constant flow of new enquiries.
More importantly, we will also agree objectives and put in place metrics so that you are able to measure the impact and success of the programme.
This phase consists of:
Kick off meeting – the purpose of this session is to align everyone with the purpose of the engagement, and to potentially identify any barriers to a successful completion. At the same time everyone will know that you are serious about this assessment exercise.
Understanding of the High-Level strategy of your business – This exercise is to ensure that I totally understand the strategic direction, principle business drivers, and market imperatives now in effect in your business. I will undertake this through a series of short individual interviews with each of you and your wider team followed by a short session for me to present to you my understanding of your high level business strategy. This will make certain that my final recommendations support your business plans.
Understanding your current organisation – This phase is to gain an insight into the way you and your wider team currently functions – how they schedule their work, how they close deals, what processes and tools they use etc.
Prepare implementation plan – Once my recommendations are agreed I would prepare an implementation plan. The key to this planning would be to ensure that everyone is committed to making the change programme work.
Growth Action Plan
This is the report and Action plan for growing your business. It is a working document that will change and evolve throughout the lifetime of the project.

Action Plan Implementation
During this part of the cycle I will work with you to implement the plan. Obviously, without having undertaken the first part of the engagement it is impossible to detail the entire programme I would be implementing with you. However, based on our discussions and the Action Plan, I will probably recommend that that you commit to a number of days of consultancy which can be ‘called off’ when appropriate to help you implement the various stages of the implementation plan. The majority of this will occur in the first months of the programme.
However, I must stress that the real key, to ensuring new processes are embraced and become part of everyday life for your business, is that the business leaders need to be seen as the champions of the new culture.
